The centre was established at the Department of Zoology, University of Lucknow with joining of Professor Vinod Kumar in 1993. Later Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhardwaj and Dr. Sudhi Singh joined as post-doctoral fellows and Prof. Sangeeta Rani and Dr. Shalie Malik as faculty. Now the centre has three main laboratories working in close collaboration, at the Department of Zoology, University of Delhi, Delhi (Prof. Vinod Kumar), University of Lucknow, Lucknow (Prof. Sangeeta Rani, Dr. Sudhi Singh and Dr. Shalie Malik) and Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut (Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhardwaj). These three laboratories working on biological timekeeping systems in birds are addressing different questions on avian research using an interdisciplinary approach. The group has attracted generous research grant supports from the UGC, CSIR, DST, DBT as well as from DST-DAAD Personnel based exchange Programmes and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum.

Recent Activities

We have recently been awarded second time the joint center, named
“Indo-US Centre in Chronobiology”
by Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSTTF),
this time with Prof. Sangeeta Rani as the Lead PI.
